HCM was started in 1992 by three brothers Albert, Dan, and Wayne Hershberger. The company was based on the south side of Berlin, Ohio just across the road from where it sits today. The brothers got a small business loan from the bank and purchased used equipment to start manufacturing dimension lumber. Their product base ranged from simple wooden dowels to chair parts for local furniture builders.

Hope Plastics is a family-owned business. Don Borden, who began working in the plastics industry in 1946, went on to form Hope Plastics in 1964 with his wife and 2 sons. Starting out in a single-unit industrial complex, 3 machines soon grew to nearly 20, currently 15. In 1974, Hope Plastics moved to its present location in North Hollywood, CA, where 3 generations work together to solve a wide range of product design, molding, and manufacturing challenges for a diverse group of customers. Hope Plastics provides injection molding, over molding, and insert molding. Hopkins Machine Corporation is located at 4243 W. Diversey Avenue in Chicago, IL. In 1908, Charles Stecher opened the doors of his machine shop on Jefferson St. near Washington Blvd. He concentrated on the production of can making machinery, quality special machine tools, drill presses, screw machines, turret lathes, and automated multiple spindle machinery. (Which was way ahead of his time.) Some of the deep hole drilling machines he built are still in existence and operatiing today, as are many of his can making machines. Hopkins Machine Corp. Building FrontCharles Stecher died in 1936. M.D. Hopkins and Aage Johson took over management in 1937. Due to pre- World War II, operations expanded and the plant was modernized. In 1945 the plant was relocated to its current location. At this time the corporate name was changed from "Charles Stecher Company" to "Hopkins Machine Corporation". Mr. M. D. Hopkins died in 1952 and was succeeded by his son Ron Hopkins.
