Fritz Larson, Konstantine Thulander and Oscar Landquist founded LTL in 1917 at 1320 Woodruff St., Rockford, making specialty tools widely used in the auto business. The Landquist family became sole owners in the 1940s; Oscar remained active in the business until 1968. The company has moved twice since its founding, to 743 20th St. and then to 4801 American Road in 1995. LTL survived a Great Depression, a Great Recession and the growing globalization of manufacturing. President Jim Landquist said the company lasted by diversifying. “When I started, we mostly did tooling, and now we’re almost entirely making manufactured parts,” he said. “All of our business used to come from Winnebago County (Illinois). Now 90 percent of our work goes outside the area. We’ve stuck around because we hire good people, keep them and change with the times.” LTL has learned to excel at CNC milling and turning, surface grinding, keyways and oil grooves, plus such secondary services as Mig and Tig welding, assembly, plating and heat-treating. It has more than 50 customers across the United States – including local stalwarts SPX Corp. and Ingersoll Production Systems – and an international customer in New Zealand. The majority of its work is making parts and components for the food packaging, machine tool, oil and gas, and aerospace industries.

Luckmarr Plastics is a full-service custom injection molder. We have the capability to develop a design from a concept to a finished product. Perhaps one of the best qualities about LMNJ, are our customer’s interactions with us. We give our customers total accessibility to our facility, when running their parts. When we work with local customers, we are able to visit their facilities to understand their business and needs directly. Our customers also visit our facility, to better understand our capabilities. Founder Max Lux came from Germany where he trained as a master machinist. In 1979 he established LUX Manufacturing which is now lead by his son Frank Lux. LUX Manufacturing is a family and community based company headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA. Lopez, President LX3 Corporation Graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending UTA, Lamar specialized in composite materials and structural analysis. He was a member of the world renowned UTA Formula SAE Race team in 1992 and 1993 where he served as composite engineer and lead machinist. After college Lamar became a partner at C.M. Support, Inc. which operated under the trade name Viewloader. There he served as Chief Design Engineer in charge of product development, tooling design, manufacturing and marketing. Viewloader developed a broad product line for paintball games and became a leader in this emerging industry. Viewloader was purchase by the Brass Eagle division of Daisy BB guns in late 1998. Lamar founded Lx3 in January 1999.

Our parent company, Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding, was founded in the late 1970s as a custom power and sailing yacht builder. With each custom yacht comes a unique set of requirements, each with their own personality and specifications. Lyman-Morse Fabrication was born from that need to have custom, high-quality, durable, and beautiful hardware for extreme marine environments. In the late 1990s, we partnered with Steele and Marshall in Thomaston, Maine to build our aluminum hulls for a few of our clients. We purchased the facility in 2005 which enabled us to bring all metal fabrication in house. Now, over 110 launched yachts later, Lyman-Morse Fabrication functions as an independent entity from our boatbuilding division. Much of our work still revolves around the marine industry and the custom yachts we build, but our greater focus is now in servicing the needs of homeowners, builders, public and private sector clients, manufacturing and heavy industry, and research and development entrepreneurs.
