Paul Tompkins and Ron Mayne founded P&R Manufacturing in 1978. Together they have more than 100 years of machining experience. Located in Viola, Illinois, the 30,000 square foot facility is outfitted with some of the most advanced and accurate CNC milling and CNC turning equipment available. Our inspection department is outfitted with all the gauges necessary to meet today’s demanding requirements. Today P&R Manufacturing is still a family operated business and both family and employees are eager to see the company continue to grow. P.I. Tool Limited was established in 1973 to provide machining and fabricating services for industrial clients. This included parts, complete pieces of machinery, and molds for the rubber industry. In 1978, P.I. Tool built and moved to their own building at their current location in Courtice, Ontario. The father-daughter team of Paul and Ibi Igracki continued a family business history that went back to their roots in Europe. In 1987, Ibi’s husband, Fred Biesenthal, P. Eng., joined the management team. This provided continuity to the family business and helped expand the scope of services provided by P.I. Tool. In 1997, the plant was expanded to include additional space for fabrication and machining. The first CNC equipment was introduced in 1999, and additional CNC machines have been added since that time. The plant was further modified and enlarged in 2016 to include additional office/design space.

P3D started out as a 3d printing company in the early days of open-source RepRap 3d printers. While in school, we built one essentially from spare parts since there were no kits available at the time. Once we had printed enough plastic trinkets to last several lifetimes, Katie had the idea to offer printing as a service. We put together a website and started telling others in our engineering programs about our little plastic extruding CNC machine, and the rest is history.
