n 1947, at the age of 18, Gerald Phillips, Jr. founded Phillips Patterns Inc. as a wooden pattern manufacturer. In an effort to make use of available resources, he set up shop in an uninhabited 12' x 12' chicken coop located on his father's land off 300 W. in Muncie, Indiana. For years, Gerald would work throughout the days and nights, a lot of times without sleep, perfecting his trade. He exemplified hard work, high character, and accountability. These three qualities were, and still are, the foundation of Phillips Patterns & Castings.In 1947, at the age of 18, Gerald Phillips, Jr. founded Phillips Patterns Inc. as a wooden pattern manufacturer. In 1989, the CNC machining division of the business was established to offer customers an in-house, post production/value added service. Between 1992 - 1994, in order to provide customers with options regarding casting properties, dimensional tolerances, surface finishes, etc., our casting capabilities were expanded to include permanent molding and air-set (no-bake) molding. In 1996, the business was expanded by adding 70,000 + square feet of facilities, four miles Northeast of our original location. This provided the proper space to move the machine shop and permanent molding equipment, as well as expand the services and capabilities offered even further to include die-casting and vibratory finishing (Our original location, located off 300 W is still our green sand and air-set molding facility today). Over the past four years, Phillips Patterns & Castings has invested strongly in state of the art equipment to position itself in a tough global marketplace. Since 2009, Phillips Patterns & Castings has entered the market for both, rapid prototyping (3-D printing) and Powder coating. Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. is a women-owned, privately held precision machined components manufacturer located in Enfield, CT. Founded in 1989 as a two-person machine operation in a 2,000-square-foot facility, Phoenix has grown to become one of the leading suppliers of component parts for the aerospace industry.
