A 100% employee owned specialty shop, focused on manufacturing new planetary nail thread rolling dies and reworking worn dies for Prutton, Roll-Max, Reed, Karfotek, K. Ticho, Saspi, Wafios, Enkotec, Videx, Hief, Zeus and Ruja and most other nail thread rolling machines. We are one of the largest suppliers to nail manufacturers in the country, and service customers worldwide. For over two decades we have been manufacturing and supplying Cylindrical or Circular thread rolling dies to the bolt manufacturing industry. Our Cylindrical Thread Rolling Dies are made from a number of different tool steels most commonly D-2 & M-42 with other materials available upon request. We make dies for various machines including but not limited to Tesker, Ort, Reed, Grob, Izpe and Kinefac. We also regrind Cylindrical Thread Roll Dies giving your used dies new life.

Planetary Machine & Engineering, Inc. began in the spring of 1997 in Escondido, CA. It was co-founded by William Heath and Layne Oaks. Mr. Heath is President of Planetary Machine & Engineering, Inc. while Mr. Oaks is the Vice President of Manufacturing. Between Mr. Heath and Mr. Oaks, they have over 60 years experience in contract manufacturing. Mr. Heath and Mr. Oaks worked together previously in the early 1980’s in an East County contract manufacturing facility and had lost contact with each other for many years. In 1997, Mr. Heath sought out Mr. Oaks as a technical partner to begin a business venture. Mr. Heath had worked in various managerial positions within the machining industry. In addition, Mr. Heath had owned businesses associated with both Medical and Aerospace manufacturing. Mr. Oaks had also worked in various positions as a machinist, programmer, and supervisor. The vision of both Mr. Heath and Mr. Oaks from the very beginning was to create a small and successful business that catered to the needs of various markets. Today, Planetary Machine and Engineering Inc. has 35 employees with annual sales exceeding $3.5 million. We inhabit a modern 18,000 sq. ft. facility (two buildings), working three shifts 24 hours per day, seven days a week. This is successfully accomplished by a team oriented group of employees, communicating effectively. Since mid year 2011, PME has been in a continual improvement mode, with many changes occurring to improve various processes. These process improvements to all areas of our business, continue allowing us to move toward ISO 9001 : 2008 qualification. Plastamet Inc. has been in the service industry for 30+ years making industrial mechanical parts for a variety of industries ranging from utility companies to food services and many industrial companies in between. We are involved in everything from material selection to part design including processes available from manufacturing. Plastamet then produces the parts from prototype all the way through production. We offer CAD assistance as needed to facilitate new designs.
