American Products Company was founded in 1955 by Walter Eickele, a German born toolmaker. We started as a small machine shop with a few conventional lathes, milling machines and drill presses. We soon made a decision to concentrate on extremely precise product and dedicated ourselves to acquiring the skilled personnel and precision machines needed to do this successfully. We have grown steadily in the last forty years, investing many millions of dollars in new CNC machine tools to complement the unique skills of our men and women. In 1982, our dedication to quality was rewarded by the Small Business Administration, and we were honored to be chosen as the Small Business Subcontractor of the Year. Today we continue to grow. In December of 1998, we were acquired by Picut Manufacturing, a precision machining company based in Warren, NJ, and this relationship expands the services and capabilities of both companies.

For 12 years, I worked as a Laboratory Mechanical Technician in Stanford University’s Physics Department. I left my position in 1989 and started American Prototype. I have been lucky to transfer my skills acquired from machining various projects for the Physics, Chemistry and Aeronautics Departments, in addition to Stanford Medical Research. Working and collaborating with graduate students, undergraduates and professors, from many backgrounds from all around the world, has provided me with great experience and allowed me to start my business. Since August of 1989, we have been manufacturing for many diverse industries throughout the Bay Area. From fast moving Semiconductor research and development, to medical and instrument companies, it is our goal to be a partner using our experience and technology to expedite projects in a low cost and fast turn environment.
