Pete Smith has over 30 years of experience working with 4-axis Wire EDM, Vertical EDM, multi axis EDM Drilling, High Speed CNC Mills and various CMM machinery, along with multiple supporting CAD/CAM systems. Pete's strengths are shown in his ability to work with tight tolerances, as well as his ability to work productively while also training, managing and empowering his employees. With many years of experience in manufacturing, Pete effectively helps customers find the very best solutions to their needs. Previous employers include 20+ years with NyproMold and Manner USA.

Since our founding in 1982, Wedge-Mill Tool has grown from a five-man specialty company to a full-featured manufacturing firm. We’ve grown from 1,000 square feet of rented space to our own modern 12,000 square-foot production facility, with room to expand. Bob Welch began his career in machining in July 1965 at the Beech Aircraft Company and worked for several years in the Wichita area for Boeing and numerous machine shops prior to starting his own business. He established the company in Feb. 1980 to build tooling for the aircraft industry and expanded into production machining a year later. From 1981 to today Welch Machine has been a supplier for the US Government, Boeing, Cessna, Lear Jet, Sino-Swearingen, Tiger Aircraft, Commander Aircraft, Micco Aircraft and Quartz Mountain Aerospace and numerous commercial businesses such as the agriculture, automotive and oil industries. Beginning in the affordable housing arena, we have developed more than 1,570 of multi-family units, many of which we still own and operate. In the for sale housing area we have developed and sold more than 350 units mostly in the Boston region. In the area of commercial office and industrial area we have developed two office buildings in the Myles Standish Industrial Park in Taunton, Massachusetts. In addition, we developed 250,000 square feet of air cargo space just off Logan Airport which required a very sophisticated permitting process with a Chapter 91 License.

Before Mount Rushmore permanently changed the face of granite rock and Route 66 connected Chicago to Los Angeles, George Uhlir was born. He was destined to build the welding supply company we now know as Welders Supply. He opened the first Welders Supply in 1938 in Beloit, Wisconsin. This was just in time for the massive influx of welding demand for supplies during WWII. America's factory output was twice that of all the Axis Nations during WWII – thanks in part to amazing American welders, like you. George Ulhir was a well-known and respected welder with a lot of industry experience, so it made perfect sense for him to start a welding superstore that offered the best welding products on the market. Welding Fact: Gas tungsten arc welding was invented in 1942 and was used to weld fighter planes during WWII.
